*Last Update on November 2024: We currently do not have any info sessions scheduled. Please fill out the Interest Form so that we can reach out to you via email with an info session registration link when new sessions are scheduled. Attending an info session is the first step to a Capital IDEA Houston Sponsorship. We are looking forward to meeting with you soon. Please note that we do not have a rolling enrollment policy and process applications in accordance with college start dates. Wait time for info sessions may on occasion be several months.

What will I learn in the information session?

Attending an info session is the first step to securing a sponsorship from Capital IDEA Houston. During this session you will:
Learn about Capital IDEA Houston’s sponsorship and eligibility requirements
Begin your online application with the Eligibility Team
Schedule your eligibility appointment
Learn how Capital IDEA Houston will support your success
Our Eligibility Team will be present during this session to answer questions and guide you through the process to ensure your application is complete and get you on your way toward certification for a high-wage, high-demand career in fields such as:
Allied Health
Occupational Trades
Information Technology & Computer Networking
Manufacturing Technology
Supply Chain Management & Logistics
To ensure we are able to process your application and determine your eligibility to begin our program by our enrollment deadline, attendees MUST fully complete the session, including creating their online profile and scheduling their eligibility appointment prior to exiting the session in order to receive credit for attending the session.
Our guarantee is that we will never ask you to pay back any of the funds used to pay for your educational expenses. This is not a loan and no payback is required, ever!

If you meet our minimum qualifications, you are eligible to apply for our programs. Successful applicants demonstrate a commitment to complete the program, getting employed and willingness to give back to the community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Resident of the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area
  • 18 years or older (no maximum age restriction)
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum requirement of an eighth-grade reading and math level – this will be determined by a test administered as part of the application process
  • At or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (see Income Guidelines below)

Additional Criteria

It is important to us that applicants be able to demonstrate:

  • A commitment to completing a degree or certificate in one of Capital IDEA Houston’s Sponsored Career fields
  • A commitment to getting employed after completing training
  • A commitment to finish the entire program, and
  • A commitment to give back to the community after graduating.

Federal Poverty Guidelines (200%). Updated: 1.31.2023. Family units of more than 8 members add $10,280 for each additional person. Family size refers to all adults and children living in the household who are related to the applicant by blood or marriage.
